The controls for PowerShift 3 fall easily to hand and are located on the right hand steering column stalk along with Engine Brake and Retarder thus leaving the cross cab access free. The controls are simple to use – with a rotary switch to select direction, simply push or pull the lever to manually shift gear.
EcoRoll and Creep mode are engaged automatically, but are easily and quickly switched off should conditions demand it.
The gearbox offers a choice of two modes – an Economy mode to make the best use of fuel, and a mode to provide a more dynamic drive. On request, a Power mode is available, for high weight operations. In addition, a Fleet mode is available, reducing manual intervention and further supporting an economical driving style.
Predicting journeys that go in any direction. Promising costs that only go in one.
Running a truck can mean high costs. For as little as £2.50 per week, Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) uses GPS data and 3D maps to scan the road ahead, and decide what measures to take, just like a driver does. So you can optimise your fuel consumption, and actively save on it through every journey, no matter what route you take.
What is PPC?
Predictive Powertrain Control is our unique cruise control system that helps you save money through intelligent predictions of your journey. It generates an electronic horizon which combines digital 3D maps and GPS data to scan the road ahead. The system then adjusts speed while rolling and making gear changes as necessary, to save you as much fuel as possible – up to 5% in long distance traffic. View PPC Demo Video >
Predictive Powertrain Control is currently available on New Actros and Antos with 10.7l and 12.8l engines and will shortly be available on other models.
Predictive Powertrain Control is available on New Actros Euro VI models funded on MBFS full contract hire at £2.50 per week on all terms from 2-5 years regardless of mileage where specified at point of order.
The Turbo Retarder Clutch provides wear free starting and braking under extreme loads. Combining the benefits of a hydrodynamic clutch and a primary retarder in a single component, it makes it possible to move away with maximum control, minimum fuel consumption and no wear – and all of this with full torque and no time limitations.
The integral, high-performance primary retarder with braking power of up to 750 kW (1006hp), which also functions in reverse gear, reduction of some 80 kg in weight compared to a conventional torque converter clutch and the reduced noise emissions are further benefits. The reduction in wear to the braking system reduces downtime and servicing costs, as well as improving cycle times and increasing safety at weights up to 250 tonnes.
Applications that benefit from the Turbo Retarder Clutch include:
The Turbo Retarder Clutch is available in a variety of vehicle types, including tipper and rigid chassis as well as tractor units with engines from 315 kW (420hp) to 460 kW (625hp). It is also used in the Actros and Arocs SLT models, with an additional cooling package behind the cab although the benefits are also seen at much lower weights as well.
Available with a dropped beam and ventilated disc brakes, the range of front axles on the new Actros can be specified to suit long distance applications precisely.
Axle ratings of 7.5t, 8.0t and 9.0t are available depending on model, with a range of leading and trailing axles to suit different applications.
Light, economical and reliable – the range of Hypoid rear axles on new Actros offer not just reliable power transmission, but also a range of very wide range of closely spaced ratio choices, to allow the most economical driveline for your operation.
For more arduous operation and more ground clearance, a range of planetary rear axles are also available, extending the spread of available ratios even further
Equipped with a differential lock as standard, along with ventilated disc brakes and an oil temperature sensor for the maintenance system, the range of rear axles offer ratings of up to 13t.
